Distribution

Alongside the other posts on distribution, (Shorts international and Film4), I also found another distributor of short films, and this is BBC. A distubutor is generally an organisation who handles the theatrical release of a film, as well as the marketing and circulation of the film for home viewing (DVD, television etc). A distribution company that could distribute our film, "The Last Line", is the BBC film network. They showcase british films, and distribute short films. This is a good option for our film, as it is a short film, and we wouldn't have a very high budget, so a company such as Universal or 20th centruy Fox, wouldn't be a good option. Therefore the BBC film network is a suited distributor for our short film. They show these short films online or on the television. We would like our film to be distributed this way, or shown at a small, independent cinema. They also distribute longer films, that will be shown in larger cinemas, such as "West is West", and "Jane Eyre".
